Realities and perceptions

I was talking yesterday with one of my students of part of my Aikido "history". I was telling him about a difficult time. But at the end I made clear that what I was telling him was according  my personal view of what happened. And that the others involved would narrate a somewhat different story. Why is this important if important at all?.... (will continue).
